Cosmology and Gravitation

Mário Novello, Centro Brasileiro de Pesquisas Fisicas, Rio de Janeiro, BRAZIL ; Santiago E. Perez Bergliaffa, Centro Brasileiro de Pesquisas Fisicas, Rio de Janeiro, BRAZIL

AIP Conference Proceedings 910

Conference Location and Date: Mangaratiba, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, 10-23 September 2006

Subseries: Astronomy and Astrophysics

Published June 2007; ISBN 978-0-7354-0418-2 One Volume, Print; 442 pages; 8.5 X 11 inches, single column; Hardcover; $124.00

Readership: Advanced students and researchers in general, in the areas of cosmology, astrophysics, high energy physics, and classical and quantum general relativity.

These proceedings contain an up-to date series of lectures covering issues at the forefront of cosmology, gravitation, and astrophysics. Both observational matters, such as accelerated expansion of the universe, and gamma ray bursts and theoretical issues, such as loop quantum gravity and quantum field theory in de Sitter space are presented. Being a school for advanced students, many of the lectures were a high level revision of recent developments, among which could single out the results presented by Belinski regarding the absence of black hole evaporation, and Riffini regarding the origin of gamma-ray bursts.
